Habitat delegation visits El-Fashir to assess progress of peace building project
El-Fashir, March 16 (SUNA) - A delegation from the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) has paid a visit to the North Darfur State to evaluate The Peace-Building and Social Cohesion Project, which is currently being implemented by the 'Habitat' in Tawila Locality.
The Acting Director General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development Engineer Mahmoud Abu Al-Hassan briefed the delegation, in the presence of the Director of the Urban Observatory at the Ministry Engineer Moh-Eddin Abdullah Bukhari, with the progress of work in implementing the peace-building and social cohesion project in the areas and villages of Tawila Locality in accordance with village mapping standards. The project also covers training of local communities in various fields with the aim of determining community land holdings, and providing the elements of housing quality in order to build trust between the 'Habitat' and the local community.
The meeting stressed the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Infrastructure, Urban Development and Habitat to implement the urban plan for the year 2023 in order to contribute to supporting the project of building peace and social cohesion.
