Health Regular Emergency reviews Current Health and Epidemiological Situation
Khartoum, Mar. 5 (SUNA) – The acting Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, reaffirmed his ministry's commitment to support Khartoum State Ministry of Health to provide the necessary aids for activities of dengue fever in localities in terms of preventing its spread in the Khartoum state.
He made the remarks during the regular emergency meeting held today in the hall of the office of the Director -General of Khartoum State Ministry of Health, attended by the representatives of the World Health Organization and Directors-General and Heads of Sub-departments of the ministry.
He stressed that his ministry is closely following up on the epidemiological situation in Khartoum State, calling for intensifying efforts between different sectors to make a necessary successful intervention and reduce the spread of dengue fever.
The Director-General of the Ministry of Health, Khartoum State, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Qaim, stated that one of the biggest problems facing his ministry is the problem of funding, explaining that the ministry aims to reduce deaths and stressed the need for federal support.
Dr. Mahmoud Al-Qaim also lauded the estimated efforts exerted by the Federal Health ministry and the World Health Organization, pointing to the importance of providing tests to detect cases, provided that the entomological survey circle will be expanded to include the rest of the localities.
Meanwhile, The Director of the General Department of Emergency and Epidemic Control at the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr Montaser Mohamed Osman, stressed the need for community participation, strengthening patient surveillance, providing the necessary needs through organizations in addition to paying attention to awareness and treating cases.
For his part, the Director of the General Department of Emergency and Epidemic Control at the Ministry of Health of Khartoum state, Dr. Mohammad Al-Tijani, said that the department is working through a technical room that meets daily with the Federal Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization and pointed to the activation of active investigation activities and training of cadres, while reviewing the weekly epidemiological report, confirming the monitoring of 94 new suspected cases yesterday and the continuation of work in mobile clinics to detect cases.
The representatives of the delegation of the World Health Organization announced the organization's commitment to continue supporting the control work in the state in addition to training cadres, and stressed the importance of working to prevent the entry of Aedes mosquitoes from other states and the continuation of control activities in Khartoum as well as the use of partners and other various organizations.
The meeting heard a number of periodic reports from emergency departments, isolation centers and malaria.
