Sudan Selected as Member in Coordinative Committee for Tourism Strategies at OIC

Khartoum, June 29 (SUNA)- The Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Graham Abdul-Gadir, has called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to support the Sudanese tourism, especially in the field of raising capabilities and the development of local communities.

This came in the Sudan’s paper on tourism in Sudan, presented by the minister at the Conference of Tourism Ministries in Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s countries which is taking place in Azerbaijan.

This session of the 11th of tourism and culture ministries of the member states at the OIC is held in the Republic of Azerbaijan, under the theme: the role of local communities in improving tourism and is considered an exceptional session.

The minister has reviewed Sudan’s tourism resources, in addition to investment opportunities in infrastructures and tourism services.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Minister of Culture and Information met a number of ministries who participated in the conference, he also met with the Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC),Hussein Brahim Taha, and discussed issues of tourism in Sudan and the negative impacts of COVID 19, pointing to mutual efforts that can be exerted to benefit from the economic revenues to develop local communities, especially the traditional industries.

It is worth noting that the conference has chosen Sudan as a member in the coordinative committee that is authorized to map out strategies and to enhance the tourism personnel capabilities and the investment opportunities among the Islamic countries.
