According to the state minister of agriculture, Daniel Akuong, the land which is located south of Wau town in the Bussere area will be utilized for vegetable growing to provide both employment opportunities for the youth and supply the markets with vegetables.

“After a fruitful assessment, we decided to give them farmland from the land of the ministry in Bussere area, about two acres to be used in the irrigation farm in form of vegetable gardens,” Minister Akuong said. “It is support from the ministry to the youth sector in the state to generate income and at the same time to provide employment.”

The chairperson of the Youth Union of Western Bahr El Ghazal State, David Lawrence, welcomed the land donation by the state ministry of agriculture and urged humanitarian partners to support the youth in the utilization of the land.

“This farmland will support the youth in fighting hunger in the state and in resolving the issue of unemployment among the youth,” Lawrence said. “I call on the partners in the area of agriculture and those working with the youth to support us in utilizing the land.”
